Visiting a theme park with the kids is undoubtedly a great day out.
It provides an opportunity for them to expend some energy and it’s delightful to see their excitement as they ride a rollercoaster or win a prize. However, it can also be an exhausting day.
That’s why staying at one of the on-site hotels when visiting a theme park can be so beneficial – it allows you to rest after a long day and recharge for more fun the next day.
If you’re planning a trip to LEGOLAND Windsor in the near future, you’ll be thrilled to learn that they have a brand new Woodland Village where you can stay!
This £35million development is Merlin Entertainments’ first operationally carbon neutral accommodation across its global attractions and theme parks. It boasts 130 snug lodges and 20 chic camping barrels for guests of the theme park.
Whether you’re a child or an adult, you’ll adore the charming lodges or camping barrels that offer a cosy stay.
I stayed in one of the lodges with my little one and was welcomed by a brightly decorated room, which was naturally woodland and LEGO-themed. Adjacent to this was the children’s room, featuring bunk beds, twinkling ceiling lights and, of course, some LEGO to play with!
The bathroom continued the woodland theme with artwork on the wall and boasted a large rainfall shower for a touch of luxury.
Each lodge is situated in its own section, equipped with a small slide and climbing frame to entertain the children while you relax on the deck.
In addition to the lodges, the Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar offers campfire-style dining under a sparkling tree canopy. Alternatively, you can venture out onto the terrace and soak up the picturesque Woodland Village views.
The menu boasts a variety of dishes including fish, pasta, salads, pizza and burgers, along with a separate toddler menu that’s just right for the little ones. I sampled one of their pizzas which was delicious and so large I couldn’t finish it.
To keep the children entertained during meal times, there’s an abundance of LEGO in the restaurant for them to play with or bring back to the table. Regular character meet-ups also add to the fun.
Post-meal or breakfast, they can head to the large outdoor play area adjacent to the restaurant to use up some energy before entering the theme park. A LEGO nature trail also ensures they won’t have a dull moment.
As you can gather, my stay at LEGOLAND’s new stunning Woodland Village was filled with joy and fun. My only suggestion would be the provision of luggage carts to assist with carrying belongings. Our lodge was quite a way away from the reception, making it somewhat challenging to carry everything with two toddlers in tow.
The Woodland Village is in a very convenient location though, with it situated just next to the LEGOLAND theme park.
Online reviews are also glowing, with one visitor posting on LEGOLAND Windsor’s official Facebook page: “Me and my daughter stayed 2 weeks ago and we had the best night sleep the beds r amazing 10/10.”
Another happy guest remarked: “We stayed here a couple of weeks ago and loved it as a family of 4! We stayed in one of the Premium lodges which were spacious and well equipped! Fab little village which is right near the entrance of the Legoland.”
For those planning a trip to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, it’s conveniently located on the B3022 Windsor/Ascot Road, a mere two miles from the centre of Windsor.
Train travellers will find it’s a breeze to get there, with a half-hour journey from London Paddington to Windsor and Eton Central, changing at Slough on Great Western Railway, or a direct route from London Waterloo to Windsor and Eton Riverside on South Western Railway, typically under an hour.
A short break at LEGOLAND Woodland Village starts at just £69 per person, which includes theme park admission, a round of LEGOLAND Adventure golf, plus bed and breakfast. For more details and to book, visit the LEGOLAND Windsor website.
