A British traveller snagged a flight to Italy for less than the cost of a Domino’s pizza, all to savour an authentic slice in its birthplace.
Liam Bond shared his thrifty adventure online, boasting that his round-trip flight only set him back £19.
He compared this to his usual splurge on a Domino’s pizza, which he says would have cost him £40, meaning he saved £21 and got to indulge in superior pizza, reports the Mirror.
Liam took to Twitter with a picture of some mouth-watering slices from Spontini, captioning it: “Fancied a pizza so instead of spending £40 on Domino’s I paid £19 for return flights to Milan on Cheap Flights Club and £8 for the best pizza I’ve ever had.”
The tweet went viral, with people astounded by the rock-bottom flight price, prompting Liam to direct them to Cheap Flights Club.
His post exploded on social media, amassing over 3.4 million views, along with 537 replies, 2,400 retweets, and 41,000 likes.
One user, Adam, responded with disbelief: “What site you using to go to Milan and back for 19 quid haha that’s banging it cost me 22 quid in a cab just to take my kid to school n that’s not a return haha.”
Another, Chelsea, chimed in: “That must be Spontini, isnt it? I was there for Milan-Chelsea game in CL and everyone was raving about that pizza. When i tried it, i got why, it was amazing, but the line we waited for it was insane ahhahhaha.”
Some commentators, however, pointed out additional expenses that Liam may have overlooked.
Cristiano retorted: “Plus 16/20 from the airport to Milan, plus 4 minimum for the public transport inside the city and for eight euros you made a slice of f***ing takeaway pizza without even going to a restaurant.”
Jay chipped in with: “Hotel, taxi and additional food on the way back….or a £19 Dominos.”
The Cheap Flights Club site tempts travellers with a choice between a free membership, offering one discounted flight deal weekly, or the premium one at £3.99, unlocking access to an exclusive members’ area with temptingly low airfares, sometimes as cheap as £12.
Liam confirmed to the curious online crowd that his Amsterdam flight was another steal, revealing: “For everyone asking where I got £19 flights, you can get loads of them on Cheap Flights Club. Did Amsterdam for £25 as well.”
While Domino’s prices fluctuate according to branch and toppings, they typically sit within the spectrum of £10.99 to £24.99.
