A new shopping centre is being developed in Spain with an estimated investment of over £294 million (€350 million). Valencia City Council has approved plans for a new shopping centre in Malilla next to the Neuva Fe.
The project, which is scheduled to open by 2026, will cover more than 330,000 square metres and will include 222 retail spaces spread across several floors.
Additionally, it will feature a variety of leisure and entertainment options, including cinemas and fitness centres, as well as over 3,800 parking spaces for cars and 4,000 spaces for bicycles.
Valencia’s urban planning councillor, Juan Giner, said: “This public-private initiative will bring investment, new jobs, and growth to the city.”
Opposition socialist councillor, Javier Mateo, responded by stating that the city is ‘being saturated with shopping centres’ to the detriment of local communities and commerce.
The proposal for the plan, named Infinity, was initially presented in 2021.
It will be situated near La Fe Hospital and the Turianova real estate development in Valencia’s southern area, on the city side of the V30.
The plans also include a wave pool and a climbing wall.
However, Valencia has several shopping centers including Centro Comercial Aqua Multiespacio.
It is located near the City of Arts and Sciences, this shopping center features a wide range of stores, dining options, and a cinema.
