A huge fashion brand with 87 branches across the UK will close another store forever following a string of closures last year. Fashion retailer Superdry will shut its Bradford Broadway store in two weeks time, and it has launched a clearance closing down sale. It follows the closure of Superdry’s Aberdeen store at Union Square Shopping Centre, which shut its doors on 15 February.
One shopper shared news about the Bradford closing down sale on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, writing: “Superdry in Bradford Broadway is closing down. Nearly everything half price. Even half off already discounted items.” They confirmed that they had managed to grab a Khaki padded jacket for £23, which normally range in price from £80 to £100.
In January 2024, Superdry confirmed it was looking at various “cost-saving options” after reports it was considering restructurig, and it then closed 12 stores at the start of the year, which brought its total number down to 87.
It then delisted from the London Stock Exchange as part of a restructuring plan in July 2024.
Signs were there in October 2023 when the firm announced its revenue had fallen by nearly a quarter to £219.8 million between May and October. Its adjusted loss had nearly doubled to £25.3 million.
Superdry has reportedly adjusted its retail strategy due to rising operational costs, shifting consumer preferences, and the impact of inflation on discretionary spending.
