The US Open will have a new men’s singles champion as Jannik Sinner takes on home-favourite Taylor Fritz in the final on Sunday in New York.
World No 1 and reigning Australian Open champion Sinner defeated Britain’s Jack Draper 7-5, 7-6 (3), 6-2 to enter the final.
Fritz, who is the first American man to reach a Grand Slam singles final since Andy Roddick in 2009, beat compatriot Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinal.
