Jacob Fearnley’s composed victory over Nick Kyrgios and British men’s N Jack Draper’s opening win over Mariano Navone have given UK players a good start to the Australian Open in 2025 – but there is so much more still to come.
Now it is the turn of the UK’s No 2 in the women’s tournament as Emma Raducanu begins her tournament.
Raducanu will take on Ekaterina Alexandrova in the opening round of the women’s Australian Open at midnight UK time on Court 3 in Melbourne.
The 22-year old has not played competitively since the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in November due to a back injury and she insists she’s fit and ready to face the Russian 26th seed.
Fans who want to watch her opening game in the UK can do so via Eurosport, which is available to UK viewers on TNT Sports.
You can buy a TNT Sport pass and watch every match of the tournament for a one-off payment of £30.99. Fans with Amazon Prime can watch it through their account here.
Buying a pass will also allow UK tennis fans to watch Jodie Burrage and her doubles partner Clara Tauson take on Anna Blinkova and Fang-Hsein Wu in the women’s doubles first round. Burrage has already won her first round game 6-2 6-4 French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean in Melbourne in emotional scenes after six months of injury woes.
In the singles, UK men’s contender Cameron Norrie will also be playing at midnight against Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, while British number one Kate Boulter will play Canada’s Rebecca Marino at the KIA Arena in her round of 128 tie.
The Australian Open began on Sunday 12 January at 11am local time and night sessions are taking place at 7pm local time at Melbourne Park. It means a midnight start for fans in the UK, with night session games beginning from 5.30am.
