As temperatures continue to soar this week, no doubt many of us will be thinking about heading to the beach.
With the school holidays in full swing and holidaymakers already flocking to the coast, you’ll be hard pressed to find an area of sand that isn’t full of Brits making the most of the sunshine. A TikTok couple, however, say they have discovered a stunning hidden location they have dubbed “the Bali of the UK”.
Clearly shocked by its beauty, one of the @UkHiddenGems duo declared: “We have just arrived at the only sandbank in the whole of the UK.” Their video then pans from their position on the cliff to a stunning cove – and there’s barely anyone else there at all.
Revealing its location, they captioned the video: “Pedn Vounder, located in Cornwall is a hidden coastal gem that enchants visitors with its natural beauty and secluded charm.
“Tucked away near the village of Treen, this picturesque beach boasts breathtaking vistas and a sense of tranquility that feels like a true escape from the bustling world.”
While several people shut down the sandbank claim, another TikTok user who has visited the location said in response: “I was in Porthcurro last week and found this beach when I walked to Treen. Glad more people are discovering it!”
A second person advised: “I went here last year. Probably the nicest beach I’ve been to. But don’t take small kids. Unless you want to carry them up and down the cliff.”
A third, local to the area, joked: “Keep it quiet – we don’t want others finding out about our lovely beaches.” Scores more warned not to be fooled by how inviting the waters looked, as the temperature of the see was not what it seemed. “It’s freezing,” some said.
Others, meanwhile, took to the comments section with their own recommendations for a more private getaway.”Try Holywell Bay, absolutely the clearest water I have ever seen. Great to surf to.” declared one TikTok user.
Another reported: “Next try Porth Emmett in Camborne.” A third person said: “Best beaches are in the Isle of Lewis, Harris, West of Scotland and Isles of Scilly. Cornwall, Devon and Pembrokeshire are pretty good too.”
And more people suggested Anglesey, Seacombe and Hayling Island as great alternatives.
