Having occupied The Old Selfridges Hotel for the last couple of years, the British Fashion Council’s Newgen catwalk will this season return to its former home at 180 The Strand. (A great thing for employees of this magazine, who will be just a stone’s throw away from Di Petsa, who will be showing menswear for the first time, Chet Lo, Ancuta Sarca and Derrick on the Friday; Lueder, Masha Papova and Harri on the Saturday; Karoline Vitto, Yaku Stapleton, Paolo Carzana and Tolu Coker on the Sunday; and Johanna Parv, Sinéad O’Dwyer and Charlie Constantinou on the Monday.)
Seven new designers will mount presentations as part of the Newgen scheme: including Charlie Constantinou, Lueder, Steve O Smith, Pauline Dujancourt, and Yaku Stapleton. Stapleton scored the prestigious L’Oréal’s Professionnel Creative Award for his MA “costume design couture” collection at Central Saint Martins in 2023. Inspired by RuneScape and Afrofuturism, it featured behemoth hammers, reptilian puffer jackets and moon boots made from recycled pattern paper and bin scraps. New York label Puppets and Puppets will also join the newbie line-up.
