Great Britain women’s basketball match against Germany on Sunday was abandoned after a medical incident in the crowd.
The exhibition match at the Copper Box Arena in London was called off after the third period when a fan alerted the Germany bench to the emergency.
Medics moved into the stands to assist and raised sheets for privacy around the spectator, who was later taken away on a stretcher.
Germany were leading 54-43 but both sides decided to end the match.
“During the Great Britain women vs Germany showcase, a medical incident occurred involving a member of the general public,” said GB Basketball in a statement., external
“Following consultation with key stakeholders the decision was taken to abandon the game.
“British Basketball Federation want to extend thanks to both Great Britain and Germany for a fantastic display of the sport, and to the fans for their support and understanding under the circumstances.”
Germany will resume their preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics against the United States on Tuesday, while Great Britain have not qualified for the Games.
