Celebrity artist Grayson Perry has launched a series of limited edition bags in conjunction with the National Galleries of Scotland.
Inspired by its exhibition, Grayson Perry: Smash Hits, the gallery has produced only 150 of the exclusive and individually unique bags for purchase.
The launch comes after almost 100,000 visitors attended the exhibition, becoming the gallery’s biggest “by one of the best-loved artists in Britain”.
So when the exhibition closed, the National Galleries of Scotland wanted to create “something unique with the banners to commemorate an incredible exhibition”.
It commissioned Scottish maker and sustainability advocate Amy Britton to produced the bags, all handmade in Scotland.
Each of the oversized, everyday tote bags has a different pattern, a dark fabric lining, and an inside pocket featuring details of the project and a unique identification number.
Anne Lyden, Director-General at the National Galleries of Scotland, said: “As well as offering the chance to own a unique fashion item, the donations we receive will also provide incredibly valuable funding for the National Galleries of Scotland.
“Grayson Perry: Smash Hits was a blockbuster exhibition that everyone in Edinburgh was excited about, so being able to offer donors the opportunity to take home a part of the exhibition, in a sustainable way, is really special.”
Also, donations of over £1,000 will also receive the gift of a Grayson Perry: Smash Hits x National Galleries of Scotland tote bag.
