Things got unexpectedly chippy during the Kentucky Wildcats’ post-Thanksgiving matchup with the Georgia State Panthers.
Despite entering the game as 30-point underdogs, the Panthers pushed Kentucky well into the second half and showed a lot of fight, figuratively and literally.
The ‘literally’ part came just under 13 minutes to go when Amari Williams was hit hard in the back by Georgia State’s Clash Peters, leading to a scuffle between the two teams.
It led to Kentucky head coach Mark Pope running onto the Rupp Arena court to play peacemaker following the fight by grabbing a Panthers player to break things up before they escalated out of control.
Four total technical fouls were issued, two on the Panthers and two on the Wildcats via Koby Brea and Otega Oweh.
Peters was shockingly not thrown out of the game after being issued a Flagrant I foul.
Thankfully, the Cats kept their composure and crushed the Panthers from there on out, extending their lead to 30+ after leading by just six prior to the scuffle.
