The development will be built on a site off Burgh Road in Aylsham (Image: Google Maps) Plans for the development off Burgh Road in Aylsham have been approved by Broadland Council.
This is the second major application to be approved for the town which, combined, could see its population grow by nearly 1,000 in the coming years.
The proposals for land off Burgh Road include 242 new homes and a primary school to be built across 30 acres of land.
Much of this is farmland but part of it hosts Aylsham car boot sale.
The approval of these plans comes several months after 252 new homes and a 90-room care home off Norwich Road were given the green light.
The town’s population could grow by nearly 1,000 if just two people lived in each new home – roughly an 11pc increase.

The substation – which is used to contain specialist equipment that allows the voltage of electricity to be transformed – would be built at the site where Enterprise Rent-a-Car was approved in October.
The unused site has long been empty and awaiting redevelopment.
The main use of the location will be to store and display up to 50 rental vehicles, along with a new office used by staff to administer the vehicles.
