Ger Wright is to leave Frasers Group, departing her role as managing director of its key Sport division at the end of November. A replacement has yet to be announced to fill one the group’s major positions.
However, Wright’s ties with the group are not being completely severed and she will remain a member of the company’s board as a non-executive director.
Since her appointment in 2022, Wright has made a “significant contribution” to the execution of the group’s important Elevation Strategy, its key drive to lift physical retail to another level.
It noted that the group’s Sport proposition has evolved during Wright’s tenure with the introduction of its Running and Outdoor concepts, plus the “onboarding of new brands, and international expansion into new markets”.
In her two two+ years as division MD, she has overseen the opening of some of Sports Direct’s elevated flagship stores in key cities around the UK.
Frasers said: “Ger leaves behind a talented and ambitious team who will continue to evolve and drive the Elevation Strategy in Sport”.
CEO Michael Murray added: “Ger has been an exceptional leader for Frasers Group and we are grateful for her contribution. We look forward to continuing to benefit from Ger’s sector expertise as a Non-Executive Director as we further accelerate the Group’s ambitions in Sport.
