Milliosn of people travel from the UK to France each year
The UK Foreign Office has issued an alert as its official guidance for visiting France was updated on Friday. The government department provides advice about risks of travel to help British nationals make informed decisions.
It offers advice for travel to any of 226 nations and territories in a bid to help people make informed decisions and stay safe, and the new France alert relates to travel disruption in the European country. People are being advised to “postpone travel where possible”.
The update, on Gov.uk, reads: “French rail network disruption. There are reports of disruption across main line train services affecting Eurostar services and domestic high speed trains in several parts of France.
“French railways state that services could be disrupted until Monday 29 July and are advising travellers to postpone travel if possible. Check with your travel operator, or railway operator’s websites, including Eurostar and SNCF Voyageurs”.

A separate update from SNCF Voyageurs reads: Very disrupted situation on the Atlantic, North and East high-speed lines. SNCF was the victim of several simultaneous malicious acts last night affecting the LGV Atlantique, Nord and Est.
“Traffic is very disrupted on these routes. Check the impact on your train. SNCF Voyageurs recommends that its customers postpone their journey.”
