Bigger continues to be better. Footasylum has joined a legion of major retailers opened upsized stores with the streetwear retailer choosing West Midlands’ major mall Merry Hill for its latest expanded offer.
Combining its existing unit with an adjacent space, Footasylum has more than tripled its footprint — from 3,000 sq ft to 10,000 sq ft — allowing the brand to introduce new innovative features,.
This includes a mobile payment system to speed up checkout, new digital screens, alongside a refreshed fitout.
With the extra space comes an expanded selection of products across all categories, including the addition of womenswear from brands such as Nike and Adidas, as well as exclusive labels such as Forena and Dripmade.
Shannon Osman, head of Retail at Footasylum, said: “Over the past several years, Merry Hill has proven to be an excellent location for our brand, and we’ve developed a strong base of loyal customers and have established ourselves as a well-known brand in the West Midlands.”
Mall operator Sovereign Centros/CBRE noted that the refreshed Footasylum “adds further diversity” to Merry Hill’s sports and athleisure offer, joining Shoezone, which has also recently been renewed at the destination.
A trio of recent sportswear deals comes on the heels of the openings of XF Gym and Harvey Norman, brands that made national debuts in the mall’s former Debenhams unit this autumn.
Alistair Winning, Asset manager for its operators, added: “This year we have driven record levels of brand investment, with Footasylum now sitting among dozens of leading names that have both committed and recommitted to the destination, demonstrating Merry Hill’s transformation and catchment strength.”
