Footasylum’s UK expansion continues with the fashion streetwear and sports retailer announcing it will be opening a new store in Aberdeen’s Union Square shopping centre, marking its debut in the city.
The 7,000 sq ft store will open in early September, located on the ground floor of the shopping centre, in a unit formerly occupied by USC, and next door to Superdry and Superdrug.
Creating 30 new jobs across management, full-time and part-time roles, the new store will feature a product mix across all categories — menswear, womenswear, juniors — showcasing global brands including Nike, adidas and Under Armour, as well as its own brands such as Monterrain, Zavetti Canada, Dripmade, Alessandro Zavetti and Forena.
The new store also comes with a significant investment in digital capabilities “in order to create a digital-first customer journey that seamlessly connects Footasylum’s online and in-store offerings”.
David Pujolar, CEO of Footasylum, said: “Union Square shopping centre is the city’s largest retail and leisure destination, and I have no doubt it is the right location for our first-ever Aberdeen store.
“Our aim is for our extensive branded streetwear offering to be widely available across the UK, and stores such as this one will be vital to achieving our ambitions. The new Aberdeen store will offer visitors an incredible shopping experience and help to take the Footasylum brand to the next level.”
The latest store is in a run of Footasylum openings and upsizings. It opened its 20,000 sq ft flagship Oxford Street store last September, followed by the opening of upsized stores in Birmingham’s Bullring and the White Rose shopping centre in Leeds. Earlier this month, it also opened a 13,000 sq ft store in Gateshead’s Metrocentre.
