During the 2014 Brazil World Cup, Brazilian brand Farm Rio collaborated with Adidas for the first time on a capsule collection. Ten years later, the two brands reunite for their 10-year commemorative collection.
Used to collaborations, notably with Levi’s, Havaianas and Smiley, this time Farm Rio combines its tropical, flamboyant spirit with the iconic three stripes brand, showcasing a variety of creations that reflect the essence of both brands.
“The partnership between Adidas and Farm Rio has endured for so long because it is a true fusion of creative forces that complement each other in extraordinary ways,” said Daniela Moritz, head designer at Farm Rio. “While Adidas brings urban dynamism and innovative fabric technology, Farm Rio adds vibrant colors and lush tropical prints. Together, Adidas and Farm Rio created a perfect balance between street attitude and contagious joy, reflecting a powerful synergy that has captivated and inspired for a long time.”
“We are incredibly proud of the long-term partnership with Farm Rio and the unique journey we have been on together,”, said Tim Smeets, senior product manager at Adidas. “From vibrant streetwear in the Originals collection and Farm Rio’s nature-inspired prints infused into outdoor apparel and swimwear, to celebrating the shared passion for football through a collaboration with the iconic Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, it has been an absolute privilege to work with such a talented, kind, open-minded, and experienced team for 10 years. The exchange of expertise enables us to create best-in class products for the consumer who likes to dress in happiness while maintaining an active lifestyle.”
A major highlight is the return of Adidas Originals, which was part of the first collaboration launch in 2014, and is now back with 20 standout pieces, including the classic Firebird jacket, reinvented with new prints.
In addition to clothing, the collection features a sportswear line with various accessories such as backpack, cap, and an “altinha ball”, a ball used in altinha, a beach game born in the 60s in the sands of Ipanema beach in Rio. Moreover, a complementary capsule of classic Farm Rio silhouettes is offered alongside the collaboration.
To feature the collaboration, a spectacular video campaign shows real athletes in vivid prints, floating above a sand platform attached to a hot-air balloon and playing “altinha”. These athletes are then found on Brazilian beaches and cliff tops. Created without the use of AI, and with the help of expert skydivers who specialize in ballooning, the campaign creates a breathtaking scene that captures the energy of both brands.
The Adidas x Farm Rio collection will launch online and at selected stores on October 10 with prices ranging from $35 to $130 and will be available to purchase in 70+ countries.
