Premier sneaker/streetwear brand Stadium Goods has partnered with streetwear brand A Bathing Ape (Bape) for a new version of the Bape Sta collection, available exclusively at Farfetch.com.
Launching in the UK on Saturday (14 December), the ‘Varsity Blues’ capsule collection “draws inspiration from the rich cultural landscape surrounding” basketball.
It achieves this by “tapping into the increasing hype of the off-court basketball aesthetic, whilst taking inspiration from the sport’s fashion halcyon days in the 1990s, with iconic players such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman”.
With the Bape brand “already embedded in the world of basketball”, and having gained a “cult following for blending its signature bold graphics with sports-inspired street focused fashion” the latest collection furthers the collaboration story.
The collection, which includes hoodies, sweatshirts, varsity jackets, and BapeX watches, draws inspiration from American high school hallways and blacktop basketball courts, “where personal style becomes an integral part of identity and self expression” and is inspired “by those who show up to outshine the competition without ever picking up the ball”.
And they say the creative concept behind the collection “will resonate with both passionate sneakerheads and casual sneaker fans alike”.
