Hush has appointed Philip Mountford its new chairman as the UK brand eyes expansion both at home and internationally.
The brand, which underwent a relaunch 13 months ago to “reaffirm its laid-back luxe positioning”, sees Mountford succeeding Susanne Given who departs after four years as non-executive chair.
Hush CEO Sarah Miles said the new chairman “brings extensive executive retail experience, both in the UK and internationally, having held incredible CEO positions during his stellar career.”
That career includes a wide range of executive roles in the fashion retail industry, including UK managing director for luxury fashion house Versace (1999 and 2002), CEO of menswear brand Moss (2004-2009) and lingerie label Hunkemöller for 15 years having exited the brand in January this year.
Miles added that as part of the leadership team he will help “deliver Hush’s growth ambitions in our next chapter.”
Mountford added: “Hush has great brand values and a real point of difference, which will enable it to grow both physically and digitally over the next stage in the brand’s development.”
Hush has been part of the True portfolio of private equity brands since 2020 and True’s co-founder and CEO Paul Cocker also said: “I am really pleased to be adding someone of Philip’s calibre and experience to both the Hush team, and the wider True network. It’s been a tough period for the apparel sector over the last couple of years but for those brands, like Hush, that continue to thrive there is an exciting opportunity ahead and I am sure Philip will help us capitalise on that.”
London-based Hush was founded in 2002 by Australian Mandy Watkins, who previously worked in marketing for Adidas in Australia and Hong Kong. The brand was awarded B Corp certification in August.
