A traditional, cosy pub with a modern twist has recently been named as one of the very best in the country, and it’s clear to see why.
The Peterville Inn, which is tucked away in the village of St Agnes, Cornwall, scooped the award for ‘Pub of the Year’ at the recent Visit England Awards for Excellence, Plymouth Live reports.
It massively impressed the judges in the Cornwall and South West heats of the competition before picking up the coveted gold prize. Boasting fresh, locally sourced food, as well as cocktails and a cosy interior to relax in, the pub is loved by locals and tourists alike.
Owners Tom and Lara Trubshaw also manage the Wig and Pen in Truro, and they picked up their award at the ceremony in Liverpool earlier this month alongside general manager Steven Gibbs.
Overwhelmed by the win, Tom and Lara said: “We’re unbelievably over the moon to be named the best in the country – we never thought in a million years this would happen. It’s a massive recognition of all the work and passion put in by our whole team who make the pub what it is. We can’t wait to celebrate with them all.”
The pub is just 10 minutes’ walk away from the stunning Trevaunance Cove in Cornwall, making it the perfect location to grab a drink or some food after a picturesque beach stroll.
And you can expect a ‘modern pub dining experience’ while you’re there, with menus that evolve with the seasons made with only the finest local and seasonably available ingredients. There’s also plenty of drinks to choose from – including cocktails – which can be enjoyed either in the snug indoor bar area or on the outdoor decked seating area equipped with pyramid heaters and blankets perfect for the unpredictable British weather.
Customers are also treated to live music every Thursday evening as well as an exciting quiz on Monday nights where you can win free drinks or even cash prizes.
