England’s men will look to end a 58-year wait for a major tournament triumph when they face Spain on Sunday in the Euro 2024 final in Berlin (20:00 BST kick-off) – a match you can watch live on BBC One.

The Three Lions’ last success came at the 1966 World Cup held in England, though the Lionesses won the women’s Euros in 2022.

Gareth Southgate guided England to the Euro 2020 final at Wembley only for Italy to win 3-2 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 after extra time.

No senior England football team has won a major tournament overseas.

Several players who appeared in the Euro 2020 final are likely to start on Sunday, including goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, defenders Kyle Walker and John Stones, midfielder Declan Rice and captain Harry Kane.

Up to 50,000 England fans are expected to be in Germany’s capital for the showpiece, with millions more cheering the team back home.

“The only reason I took the job on was to try to bring success to the nation and improve English football,” said Southgate, who has guided England to back-to-back European Championship finals, as well as the 2018 World Cup semi-final and 2022 World Cup quarter-final, since taking charge in 2016.
