Fresh from opening its New Bond Street store in London and news that its link-up with ESW has boosted conversion online, high-end label DSquared2 has continued its global expansion with the opening of a boutique in Frankfurt on Fressgasse, one of the key shopping streets of the city.
It carries the men’s, women’s and kids’ collections as well as swimwear, underwear, eyewear and fragrances.
The space has a contemporary design and was born from a collaboration between the business’s owners and creative chiefs Dean and Dan Caten with Italian architectural firm MRZarchitetti.
The company said it “reflects the brand’s DNA and spirit of the collections” over 120 sq m. The facade is characterised by pillars covered in black sheet metal; the central entrance is flanked by a large window on the right side, and two narrower windows on the left side.
What shoppers see on entering is a large room marked by the presence of pillars. At the heart of the store is a large woven natural rattan-effect fibre carpet, display tables and hangers in smoked glass, with black leather armchairs. Above the display tables and next to the leather armchairs, ‘Atollo’ brass lamps “enrich the environment and give warmth to the lounge corner”.
As we see regularly nowadays in high-end stores, the walls are treated with a concrete effect finish. Meanwhile the floors are covered in black speckled stoneware.
Products are found on large freestanding displays that run along the side walls, in black painted iron and brass details with LED strips. The sides, the top and the back panel are in smoked glass, while the platforms are in natural wood.
