Debenhams has named insider Patrick Duggan as its new creative director. It’s clearly an endorsement of the work he’s done already as he’s been the senior head of creative at the online marketplace for almost two years.
In that role he was responsible for defining the creative strategy for all of the brands that parent company Boohoo Group has acquired, as well as Debenhams. Those brands include Dorothy Perkins, Burton, Wallis, Oasis, Coast and others.
Duggan shared the news on LinkedIn and said: “Really pleased to share that I have been promoted to the role of creative director at Debenhams. I’ve had the privilege of being part of the Debenhams journey within the Boohoo Group from pretty much day one and am incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over these few short years. I get to work with incredible, passionate and talented people every day and have a good laugh along the way.”
Duggan has actually been with the parent company for some years and joined as creative manager for acquired labels Coast and Karen Millen in 2020 before being senior creative manager for Debenhams in February 2021 and head of creative in the same year. The word ‘senior’ was added to his title in January 2023.
Before his arrival at the firm, he spent several months as creative consultant at Wax London in 2020 and had also been group senior creative manager at New Look from 2018 to 2020.
