British luxury eyewear brand Cutler and Gross has chosen 70s/80s punk icon Debbie Harry and British Rock ‘n’ Roll jeweller The Great Frog to collaborate on its new ‘Gothic Realism’ campaign.
The exclusive new eyewear collection sees the Blondie singer chosen by Cutler and Gross because “her style remains as relevant today as ever, making her the perfect frontwoman for the collaboration”.
New York’s Chelsea Hotel, “a living monument of pop culture history”, was used as the backdrop for the campaign that was shot by Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden,
Described as “an alchemy of creative visions”, the latest Cutler and Gross x The Great Frog glasses “look to the depths of the Underworld” with the Gothic Realism collection “translat[ing] the dark tales and spine-tingling legends into an optical vocabulary”.
In all, the six designs combine frames handmade in Cutler and Gross’s Italian atelier that are then punctuated with 925 Sterling Silver or 24K Gold-plated emblems — “details synonymous with The Great Frog”.
The colour palette embraces classic lines with bursts of luminous colour, created by stacking layers of pigmented acetate.
Launching 18 September, the collaboration’s pieces will retail from £475 via Cutler and Gross standalone stores and online at www.cutlerandgross.com, in addition to selected stockists globally.
