Manchester United could have Rasmus Hojlund available again this evening for their trip to Crystal Palace.
Hojlund and Mason Mount both returned to training this week with Erik ten Hag revealing both are set to be available for the trip down south.
However, the United boss warned he will not rush the pair back and will exercise some caution over their returns to the first-team.
After a 3-0 win over Southampton last Saturday, United put seven past Barnsley without reply in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho each grabbing a brace.
United’s wide options are in good form with Amad Diallo also starting the season impressively. Rashford and Amad have been Erik ten Hag’s first choice wide options so far but the Argentina international is now pushing to start in south east London on Saturday.
Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui all limped off in the latter stages of the win at St Mary’s. But all three were passed fit by ten Hag this week with Mazraoui and de Ligt coming off the bench in the second-half against Barnsley with Martinez remaining among the subs.
Luke Shaw is still to feature this season with the left-back’s last appearance for his club coming back in February.
United’s initial diagnosis on Shaw’s calf problem suffered in August suggested he would be back after September’s international break.
The England international was absent again against Saints and Barnsley with ten Hag explaining the club have not put a definitive timeline on his return.
‘We have a plan in our head when he can be ready but you are always dependent on how the progress will go,’ he said. ‘You can’t think, you can’t make a suggestion [of a return date] because there are so many factors why a plan can accelerate or slow down.’
Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof and Leny Yoro remain absent.
Manuel Ugarte will be hoping to make his first Premier League start after getting an hour under his belt midweek.
Onana, Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Ugarte, Mainoo, Amad, Fernandes, Rashford, Zirkzee
Crystal Palace vs Man Utd kicks off at 5:30pm on Saturday 21 September.
