Sir Ian Botham, one of cricket’s greatest all-rounders, will deliver a keynote motivational speech at the 2025 Great British Fleet Awards.
Knighted in 2007 for his work and dedication in both the cricket and charity world, the sporting legend and member of the House of Lords will share his journey and reflect on his career at the awards, which take place following the Great British Fleet Event on 8 May 2025 at Milton Keynes.
Sir Ian, known as ‘Beefy’, represented England in both Test and One-Day International cricket. He mainly played for Somerset but also Worcestershire, Durham and Queensland.
Off the pitch, Sir Ian has also become a legend for his charity work after fundraising for over 40 years, racking up a total of 18 long-distance charity walks and raising more than £20m for charity while establishing Beefy’s Charity Foundation in 2013.
This year will mark the 40th anniversary of his first long-distance charity walk from John o’ Groats to Land’s End, raising over £1m and funding the build of the Glasgow Blood Cancer Research Centre. In recognition of this work, Sir Ian became the first-ever president of charity Blood Cancer UK in 2003.
Sir Ian was nominated for a life peerage in 2020, Baron Botham, of Ravensworth in the County of North Yorkshire. He was then appointed as Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Australia in August 2021.
His latest adventure lies in wine blending for his Botham Wines brand, and Sir Ian continues to blend wines from all over the globe.
The prestigious Great British Fleet Awards black-tie dinner and ceremony take place in the evening as the finale to the Great British Fleet Event. The full-day symposium spans a packed exhibition section, extensive networking opportunities and an insightful Masterclass conference programme.
Sir Ian joins a host of big names at the event – from carmakers to leasing, fleet management and technology firms.
