COPS are “reviewing” viral footage of a man who strangely bit a young boy’s ear on live TV.
The skin-crawling moment was caught on camera while seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry was speaking in a play break during During Thursday’s coverage of the World Snooker Championship.
The grown man seemingly whispers into the kid’s ear before proceeding to nibble on his lobe at the event in Sheffield.
Seconds later, the youngster waved to the camera – capturing the attention of the adult – who then pulled a silly face in what can only be believed as a bid to laugh off the incident.
It is not clear what the relation between the two is.
South Yorkshire Police has since confirmed they have been made aware of the footage and are “reviewing the content”.
The force said: “Yesterday, Thursday 25 April at 9.20pm, we received a call to inform us of a video circulating on social media of a man and a boy at the Crucible in Sheffield.
“We are aware of the footage and officers will be reviewing the content.”
Fans on X/formerly known as Twitter were quick to comment on the disturbing video, which had amassed millions of views and nearly 70,000 likes by Friday evening.
One person wrote: “This is totally disgusting and he needs locking up for sure.
“He even nibbled the child’s ear then realised he was on film and shook his head like that.”
Another user said: “This is very troubling.”
A third commented: “I just threw up.”
A spokesperson for the World Snooker Tour said on Friday: “We are aware of this incident and it is now a police matter.”
