Norwich City Council has approved refurbishment plans to improve the appearance and accessibility of the strip of nine shops at 63-79 Grove Road, near the Trafford Arms just outside the city centre.
The redevelopment project will include cladding replacement, pavement resurfacing and improved street furniture.
An example of the proposed cladding from the planning application (Image: Norwich City Council) The site, owned by DN Grady & Sons, a family-run property investment business based in South Norfolk, will see several improvements aimed at modernising the shopping area which includes shops such as Tesco Express, Pizza Hut, charity shops and a barber.

Key changes include replacing the existing white uPVC cladding with slate grey Hardie VL plank cladding and swapping the current mix of paving slabs and tarmac with charcoal-coloured Breedon block paving.
An example of the proposed paving from the planning application (Image: Norwich City Council) Large planters will also be added to the street to introduce more greenery and street furniture enhancements such as new benches and bins will be added in a bid to improve the site’s overall aesthetics.
Two new Sheffield bicycle cycle stands will provide parking space for up to 22 bicycles.
It is not yet known when construction work will begin on the project.
