Carlo Capasa is back for another two years. The Italian fashion houses have renewed their confidence in the ex-CEO of Costume National, who was unanimously re-elected as head of the Camera nazionale della moda italiana (CNMI), where he took on the role of president and deputy councillor. His mandate promises to be a difficult one, with the luxury goods market in full decline.
At the assembly of Italy’s highest fashion authority on Thursday June 28, Carlo Capasa, who succeeded Mario Boselli in June 2015, took stock of the last two years, during which he has continued to promote Made in Italy brands around the world, while stepping up initiatives on sustainability, diversity and inclusiveness, training and the promotion of young brands.
Also elected for the 2024-26 term of office was the new Board of Directors of the Chamber, which since 1958 has brought together the leading Italian fashion houses under its wing. Most of the big names in Made in Italy who made up the previous board were confirmed, with the exception of Fabrizio Cardinali, the CEO of Etro, whose label is no longer on the board. He has been replaced by Roberta Benaglia, as vice-president of MSGM, a brand 32% owned by Style Capital, the investment fund she founded and manages.
In addition, two other new directors, both French, from luxury giants LVMH and Kering, are joining the board of the Italian Fashion Chamber: Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglu and Jean-François Palus. The former succeeded Serge Brunschwig as head of Fendi, while the latter took over the reins at Gucci after the departure of Marco Bizzarri.
The Board will therefore comprise the following 15 members for the next two years: Pierre-Emmanuel Angeloglu (Fendi), Roberta Benaglia (MSGM), Patrizio Bertelli (Prada), Carlo Capasa (CNMI), Alfonso Dolce (Dolce & Gabbana), Massimo Ferretti (Aeffe), Marco Gobbetti (Salvatore Ferragamo), Luigi Maramotti (Max Mara Fashion Group), Angela Missoni (Missoni), Jean-François Palus (Gucci), Renzo Rosso (OTB), Remo Ruffini (Moncler), Carla Sozzani (Magliano), Jacopo Venturini (Valentino, Ermenegildo Zegna N. V.). The Board is joined by Honorary Chairman Mario Boselli.
