Busy shopping centre ‘closed’ after being ‘damaged’ by storm
The Centre Cumbernauld, on Central Way in the North Lanarkshire town, revealed they wouldn’t be opening this morning (Saturday, January 25) due to ‘damage sustained’ from the brutal storm.
Storm Eowyn ripped through Glasgow and central Scotland on Friday, January 24.
Ahead of it, the Met Office issued a rare red weather warning for the area from 10am until 5pm.
Announcing the news on Facebook, the leisure facility said they need to assess the damage before reopening.

A spokesperson for The Centre said: “We can advise that The Centre will not reopen as normal on Saturday morning, as we have had some damage sustained today during the storms and need to fully assess all areas to ensure that we can provide a safe and secure environment; therefore, we will advise as soon as we possibly can as to when we can fully open The Centre.
“Apologies for any inconvenience that this delay will cause.”
