Burnley have signed Brazilian left-back Lucas Pires on a four-year deal.
The 23-year-old has joined from Santos, where he made over 70 appearances, for an undisclosed fee.
The defender is a product of Corinthians but a year after signing a four-year contract with Santos in 2022 he was fined 50% of his wages and transfer-listed for disciplinary reasons.
That led to him last season going on loan to Spanish club side Cadiz, where he made 28 appearances as they were relegated from La Liga.
Pires said: “English football has been a dream for me ever since I was a child, it’s a dream come true.
“I initially heard about the interest towards the end of last season. I was really happy to hear about it and I was quite emotional to be honest about coming here and playing for this club in England.”
