British holidaymakers going to Spain this summer have been warned they face up to £1,600 in fines for making some common beach mistakes.
With the new year in full swing and Britons back at work and school, many of us are already planning our escape to warmer climes and a relaxing break in 2025.
But those heading to Spain are being warned they could be slapped with heavy fines if they make a very easily made mistake on the golden sands of Spain’s various beaches.
Nicotine and vaping experts, WickdUp, have warned of the serious issues that face unaware holidaymakers caught smoking vapes on beaches across Spain.
In the UK, when it comes to vaping and outdoor events, it is not illegal to vape in public, and although each individual business or venue owner has the right to decide whether vaping is allowed, generally, it is allowed at open-air events.
Whilst Spain is generally considered to be quite relaxed when it comes to sales and regulations, one of the newer regulations which has been introduced in Spain surrounds smoking and vaping on beaches.
Smoking is not permitted on any beach in Spain, but more recently, 28 beaches on the Baleraic Islands as well as 10 beaches in Barcelona and others across the country have also added vaping to their ban.
Mike Byers, Vape expert of WickdUp said: “Whilst it may be tempting to sneakily use your vape whilst relaxing on the beach, it is important to abide by local regulations and laws.
“Some countries lack the vape shop culture we have in the UK so stocking up on disposable vapes and liquids can also be important – if that country allows travellers to include it in their luggage.
“Many EU countries still allow vaping in public spaces, but make sure you check local jurisdiction before paying any holiday deposits.
“If in doubt, use Gov.uk to seek advice whenever unsure and stay up to date with laws and regulations in every country.”
