An argument with your other half on holiday involving a heated exchange – where voices are raised – could result in both of you getting a hefty fine.
Not only will having a dispute with your other half lead to a sour mood on the trip, a pricey fine on top of it is likely to ruin the holiday even more.
According to foreign travel advice administered by the UK Government website, one European country has classified arguing as “antisocial behaviour”.
The official UK Government website stated: “In some Croatian town centres, including tourist destinations like Split and Dubrovnik, you can get on-the-spot fines for behaviour seen as inappropriate.”
One such behaviour, which could cost you up to “4,000 euros” – equating to around £3,388 – is for “verbal abuse, such as shouting or arguing”.
Arguably, shouting at one another in the street could be defined as a “public order disturbance”.
This could, in theory, extend to arguments with any person you travel with – whether it be family, friends, or a lover.
Unfortunately, there can be many issues to argue about when on holiday, especially when spending so much time together.
For those who may find it hard to keep calm when feeling flooded with emotions, they should be wary of letting their voice raise by a few decibels.
Croatian town centres, such as Split and Dubrovnik, are also strict about “drunken behaviour” from tourists.
Disorderly drunken behaviour around one of these beautiful town centres could also lead to a hefty fine.
Yet, probably less expensive than a 4,000 euro fine, walking through the town centre in swimwear could also cost you a bit of money.
Other on-the-spot fines include drinking alcohol in public spaces, urinating or vomiting in public spaces, walking through the towns shirtless, and climbing on monuments.
