Estrella Damm’s top 50 gastropubs for 2025 has been released, with one gastropub taking the top spot for the third time running.

The Unruly Pig in Suffolk has been described by the judges as “winsome and warm” that serves “filling and well-crafted pub food”.

Menus at the establishment change monthly to keep guests on their toes, and the specials change every day.

Described as “Brit-Italian” cuisine, there is a wider appeal to diners and there is even a free-from menu for those who want to stay away from gluten, dairy, or meat.

There are also more than 60 wines and fizz to chose from, as well as hand-pulled beers for the traditional pub-goers.

Only five minutes’ drive from the pleasant market town of Woodbridge, Suffolk, the pub can serve as a pit-stop before or after exploring the nearby area.

Woodbridge in Suffolk, most recently named the “happiest place to live” by Rightmove’s 13th annual Happy at Home Index.

Councillor Robin Sanders, Mayor and Chair Woodbridge Town Council said: “It was a pleasure to hear Woodbridge has been ranked as the happiest place to live.

“The happy mood of residents is a reflection of the vibrant town centre encompassing numerous listed buildings occupied by many independent shops, pubs and restaurants.”

Councillor Sanders also pointed out Woodbridge’s “long established” offerings of independent cinemas.

Additional appeal includes its “thriving historic and unique riverside area” by the River Deben.

The Suffolk Coast pointed out that the “beautiful and vibrant market town” is on the edge of an n Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Plus, a hotspot in the area is along the Quayside where residents and visitors can enjoy a lovely

stroll along the river, with a coffee or tea in hand, and admire local wildlife and the iconic working Tide Mill.
