LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 8/11 University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to No. 3/3 Texas on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. ET inside Historic Memorial Coliseum.

The Wildcats will wear their white uniforms with pink lining to support the program’s annual Play4Kay awareness game. Pink pom-poms will be available to fans at the door, as the program aims to highlight the fight against breast cancer throughout the game.

Pei Pei also will perform at halftime.

Darren Headrick will have the radio call for UK Sports Network, his eighth straight season as the voice of the Wildcats. His call will be carried on 630 AM WLAP (Lexington) and 790 AM WKRD (Louisville).

Big Blue Nation also can watch the game on ESPN2, with Courtney Lyle and Carolyn Peck on the call.

The Wildcats will host their third ranked opponent of the season in Historic Memorial Coliseum, while the Cats have already played in five ranked contests in 2024-25.

Kentucky is 19-3 on the season, including 8-2 in the Southeastern Conference and 4-1 against ranked opponents. The Wildcats enter the game 12-0 at home, while they’re 2-0 against ranked opponents at home.

In Kentucky’s most recent home game it defeated No. 22/22 Alabama, 65-56, on Jan. 30, which also marked the program’s 500th triumph inside Historic Memorial Coliseum.

The Wildcats are on the hunt for their first 20-plus win season since 2019-20. The Cats have had 20 such seasons in program history, with 10 of those collected from 2009-10 to 2019-20. Kenny Brooks, who is in his 23rd season as a head coach, with stops spanning across JMU, Virginia Tech and Kentucky, has produced 18 20-plus win seasons in his career.

The UK-UT game will mark UK’s fourth straight game against an opponent either ranked or receiving votes from the Associated Press. Kentucky went 2-1 to start that stretch defeating No. 22/22 Alabama and No. 13/12 Oklahoma by nine points apiece, while Kentucky is just coming off a loss at RV/RV Ole Miss, 66-57, on Monday.

The last time Kentucky defeated an opponent ranked as high as third in the nation was when it took down No. 1 South Carolina, 64-62, to win the SEC Tournament on March 6, 2022.

All five of UK’s starters are putting up double-digit scoring, with All-American point guard Georgia Amoore pacing the team on 19.2 points per game. She also leads the team in three-point field goals with 55 and leads the team and is ranked second in the nation with 7.4 assists per game. Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Finalist, Clara Strack, paces the team and is ranked third in the league with 9.6 rebounds per game.

She just broke the single-game school record in blocks, swatting eight against the Rebels on Monday. She needs just 10 more to break the single-season school record of 66.

Other notable benchmarks approaching includes Dazia Lawrence, who needs just 43 more points to eclipse 1,500 for her career. Also, Amoore needs just 48 more assists to break the school record.

The UK-UT game will mark the third all-time meeting between the Wildcats and the Longhorns. Kentucky trails Texas, 2-0, in the series, with both meetings held on a neutral court.

In their most recent appointment, Kentucky lost to Texas, 72-70, in the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Nov. 24, 2007. Prior to that, UK dropped to UT, 75-60, in the National Women’s Invitational Tournament on March 17, 1978.
