Kentucky is 44-44 all-time in SEC Tournament games, winning seven of the last nine contests. UK earned its first No. 4 seed and double bye since 2020, while it has played in the quarterfinal game in 14 of the last 15 seasons.
The Wildcats are 17-16 in quarterfinal games in program history.
Kentucky currently has its highest ranking in the Associated Press poll (No. 12) entering the SEC Tournament since 2014-15 (also No. 12).
In Kentucky’s only other game against Oklahoma this season, the Wildcats defeated the Sooners, 95-86, in Norman, Oklahoma, on Feb. 2. In that game, Georgia Amoore tied the school record for most points scored in a single game when she dropped a career-high 43 points. Her 43 points came from 15-22 FG, 7-12 3FG and 6-8 FT.
Her 43 points tied Rhyne Howard (at Alabama (1/9/2020)) and Jennifer O’Neill (vs. Baylor (12/6/13)) for the most points in a single game in program history, while O’Neill’s 43 points came in four overtimes.
Amoore, who was named the SEC Newcomer of the Year and to the All-SEC First Team this week, added eight assists against the Sooners, becoming the lone player in program history – and the lone player in the league since at least 2002-03 – to drop 43 points and deliver eight assists in a single game.
Clara Strack, the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, added 19 points, three 3s, six rebounds, five steals, two blocks and an assist in that meeting. Strack also was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team and the All-SEC Second Team this week.
The Wildcats enter the UK-OU game 22-6 on the season, including 11-5 in the SEC. Kenny Brooks and the team he built in just a matter of months concluded SEC regular-season action last Sunday, earning some significant accomplishments, including but not limited to:
For those reasons and numerous more, Brooks was recently named to the 2024-25 Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s College Coach of the Year Watch List.
