Belstaff and Represent have joined forces to launch a streetwear collaboration that channels Belstaff’s 100-year motorcycle legacy.
Available now at Frasers Group’s Flannels chain, it’s launching next week on the two participant’s respective webstores, as well as at select global wholesale stockists including Selfridges, END., Harrods, Printemps, Breuninger, De Bijenkorf, KaDaWe, Ounass and Marais.
As well as the motocycle edge, it also builds on Represent’s contemporary streetwear expertise with the companies saying they’re “tapping into the renegade spirit at the heart of both brands”.
George Heaton, founder and creative director of Represent, said: “Both Mike [Heaton] and I grew up admiring Belstaff and wanted to infuse a modern, Represent-inspired approach to its iconic, classic outerwear by focusing on shape, fit, and contemporary silhouettes.
“We had a clear vision from the outset, which made the collaboration exciting and purposeful. The connection between our brands lies in the clash of modern and classic Britishness, with Represent bringing a fresh, street-inspired aesthetic to Belstaff’s heritage.”
We’re told that throughout the design process, archival garments that Belstaff created for the International Six Days Enduro and the Scottish Six Days Trial were key reference points. In particular, a custom Knobby’s Enduro Trialmaster from the 1970s became the foundation for the collection, including an original chequered flag logo and the Belstaff pocket set-up with distinctive additional back pockets.
Standout styles for the new offer include an oversized biker jacket in tumbled leather with back embroidery, an Enduro jacket in garment-dyed cotton with matching cargo trousers and a chequered, oversized mohair sweater.
There are also washed graphic hoodies and sweatshirts and a leather duffle bag that carries the combination logo phoenix.
The launch comes with a joint campaign, shot in Manchester that references the brands’ shared Mancunian roots, as well as the Enduro riding inspiration behind the collection.
