London calling…
England’s capital has proven a fertile ground for footballing excellence in recent years. That reputation has extended to the gridiron, as well, as the NFL has found a willing partner in Great Britain, showering the moody metropolis in a wave of color each time it touches ground.
The latest iteration of NFL London sees a pair of young QBs take center stage, with Caleb Williams and the Bears dueling with Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Chicago (3-2) has enjoyed a strong start to life with Williams under center. The rookie signal-caller looks to have emerged from some of the foibles that defined his first few contests, even posting a 304-yard, two-touchdown outing in a win against the Panthers last week.
Jacksonville (1-4), meanwhile, has toiled through the campaign thus far. Lawrence, for all his talent, has struggled to find consistency, casting doubts over the utility of his big-money contract. Good times could be on the horizon for the 25-year-old, who tallied 371 yards on 82.4-percent passing in the Jags’ Week 5 win over the Colts. But he’ll have to prove it against a Bears secondary that has surrendered just two touchdowns (compared to six interceptions) in the air thus far.
