Kentucky was without three guards on the road at Texas. They will once again be shorthanded in the backcourt when Vanderbilt comes to Lexington on Wednesday night.

According to the SEC Availability Report, Kentucky will be without Lamont Butler, Jaxson Robinson, and Kerr Kriisa. The latter has been sidelined by a broken foot since December, and a medical redshirt is on the table. Mark Pope was a little more optimistic about Robinson and Butler during Monday night’s radio broadcast.

“For Lamont, he’s actually moving pretty well,” Pope said. “He still hasn’t practiced with live play, but for him, it’s just a matter of how far along does he have to get where he could actually take a hit in the game? That’s the biggest question for him. That’s going to be a little bit of a guessing game. We’ll try and get him some live stuff in practice over the next week or so.”

Robinson has still not done anything with his right hand. They’re giving his wrist plenty of time to rest after he injured it in a collision during practice last Friday.

With the three Wildcats sidelined at Texas, Travis Perry earned his first career start. The Kentucky native had six points, three assists, and three turnovers in a career-high 28 minutes. He’ll face a Vanderbilt defense that gives up a lot of points but is one of the best in the SEC at creating turnovers. The Commodores’ defense ranks No. 29 nationally in turnover rate.

Vanderbilt isn’t dealing with anything unexpected. Alex Hemenway, a graduate student guard, hasn’t played yet this season. He will be sidelined for Wednesday night’s game against Kentucky.
