Aspinal of London has unveiled a new offer with the launch of The Como Collection, “drawing inspiration from the timeless allure of Lake Como’s breathtaking scenery and sophisticated atmosphere”.
Importantly for the brand, as well as the collection including a range of popular Aspinal styles, it introduces as many as five new bag silhouettes. They include the Resort Flight Bag, Resort Tote, Small Bowling Bag, Bella Grande, and Bella Crossbody Pouch.
The launch comes only a month after the company announced Laura Brown as its new CEO (she arrived after a career spent at key luxury businesses such as Harrods, Bicester Village and the Dubai Mall).
It also comes a few months after the firm’s latest results showed it bouncing back last year with sales up 19% and EBITDA rising 32%.
So what does the new collection look and feel like?
Celebrating “the joy of exploration and the allure of adventure”, it’s a travel-focused collection “informed by the timeless elegance of the jet-set beau monde”. And it comes with classic silhouettes, and a palette “inspired by lakeside hues [that] conjure a sense of nostalgia and everlasting appeal, inviting travellers to embark on a journey in quintessential style”.
What that means in practice is a palette of opulent neutrals colours such as Oatmeal and Tan that we’re told “are reminiscent of sunset beaches and the driftwood sculptures popular in waterside homes”. There are also blues meant to reflect the waters of lake Como and a versatile brown (dubbed Cognac) echoing the “warm, rich tones of fine brandy”.
The pieces come in a variety of finishes with the woven canvas meant to conjure images of yacht sails and sun-bleached waterfronts while the velvety texture and subtle sheen of nubuck leather aims to be reminiscent of plush beach towels and sun-warmed sand. All of the pieces are finished in leather.
