Sports brand Asics has been announced as the official presenting partner for the RunThrough Foundation London Ten that takes place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in December.
As part of this partnership, the brand will be prominently featured throughout the event communications and will host various activations on race day. Runners will have the opportunity to speak to the brand’s experts and receive free gait analysis, trial the latest products and the chance to win branded merchandise.
RunThrough is the UK’s largest and Europe’s fastest-growing running events company, and it said the event later this year “will be a celebration of diversity in running, with the aim of inspiring people from all backgrounds and means to realise the power of movement”.
Meanwhile, Asics said that with its “commitment to uplifting both body and mind through movement, [it] aligns perfectly with the RunThrough Foundation’s mission to promote inclusivity and break barriers to participation in running. The partnership reinforces the brand’s founding purpose, encouraging runners of all abilities to experience the transformative power of movement on the mind”.
The event is free to enter and places will be allocated through a ballot process “that prioritises those from lower income areas as well as first-time runners”.
It has capacity for 6,000 runners although with tens of thousands having already applied, not everyone is going to get in.
Lucy Greenhalgh, marketing manager, Asics UK, said: “We’ve always believed in the power of sports to unite people and uplift spirits. Our founding belief is that movement and exercise benefits the body and the mind. It’s why we are called Asics which is an acronym for ‘Anima Sana in Corpore Sano‘ which translates to ‘a Sound Mind in a Sound Body.’ Whether you are an elite athlete or just starting on your running journey, all you have to do is move.”
