The store’s cafe is the first to be transformed into the new ‘Asda Kitchen’
A £2m upgrade of one of Greater Manchester’s biggest Asda stores is now complete – and bits of it look remarkably like M&S.
In what is its largest single-store investment in several years, Asda has completed the transformation of the branch in Pilsworth, Bury.
Shoppers will notice several significant improvements to the 61,000 sq ft store, including a fresh modern look with new feature lighting and updated signage.
A consolidated food hall has also been created, simplifying the layout of the shop floor and making it easier for customers to find what they need.
Shoppers will notice the food hall looks very similar to the ones at Marks and Spencer, which have proved successful with customers old and new.
The produce section now features new low-level chilled units, and a dedicated wine and spirits zone has been added. Enhancements have also been made to modernise the George and general merchandise departments.
The store’s cafe is the first to be transformed into the new ‘Asda Kitchen’, as part of a store wide programme ‘to reinvigorate the supermarkets’ cafes’. The refreshed cafe promises ‘a modern dining experience with a coffee shop atmosphere’.
The new menu includes familiar favourites as well as a variety of healthier options, with everything from fish and chips and lasagne, to burgers and curries, priced £6.75, as well as light bites like flatbreads and paninis for £4.50.
Customers can order via a manned till, a kiosk, or a QR code to have their food delivered to their table.
One of the highlights of the refurb is the introduction of a new vending machine offering free samples.
The store is the first to trial Asda’s Rewards Digital Sampling Vending Machine where customers can scan their Asda Rewards ID to get newly launched products from Asda’s branded partners.
Muller was the first brand to participate in the trial, offering samples of their Frijj product. With Easter around the corner, at the minute customers are able to get a free Maltesers or M&M Easter Bunny to try.
Dan Grindrod, general store manager for Asda Pilsworth, said: “After months of hard work from all involved, we’re excited to welcome the local community into our newly upgraded Pilsworth store.
“This investment has enabled us to create a modern shopping environment that makes it easier for the customers we serve to find the products and value they’ve come to expect from Asda.”
Asda recently reintroduced its iconic Rollback promotion as part of a broader initiative to lower prices across its entire range.
Asda Pilsworth is a 24-hour store, with the opening hours available here. The cafe is open 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
