A patrol was in the town centre as a part of Project Servator which is a crackdown by police and partners.
On Wednesday, police said there was a masked man who looked like something from the fantasy film The Nightmare Before Christmas but, in fact, he looked like Art the Clown from the frightening franchise Terrifier.
The police said he received a talking to at the shopping centre.
The post on social media said: “One male looked like The Nightmare Before Christmas clowning around the centre. He was advised and sent on his way.”
