A woman has been arrested after a “hate-related” message was posted on a community Facebook group.
The 53-year-old from Alsager, Cheshire, was arrested on suspicion of hate-related communications after a complaint was made to Cheshire Police, the force said.
It said it was made aware of a message inciting hatred, which was posted on a community group in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire, at about 14:00 BST on Monday.
The woman is currently being held in custody, Cheshire Police added.
Ch Supt Jonathan Betts said hate crime was “not acceptable, whatever its motivation”.
“Those posting such messages have done so in order to cause division in our communities, and we are committed to doing all we can to ensure that those responsible for such posts are held accountable for their actions,” he added.
