Midfielder Alex Woodyard has left Colchester United after six months with the club to join National League side Sutton United.
The 31-year-old signed for the League Two side in July having played under the U’s head coach Danny Cowley at Concord Rangers, Braintree Town and Lincoln City.
His contract has been terminated by mutual consent despite it being due to run until the end of the season.
Woodyard made 19 appearances for Colchester, the last of which was as a late substitute in their 4-0 win over Swindon at the start of December.
He has signed an 18-month contract with Sutton.
Returning to Colchester is defender Frankie Terry, who has been recalled from his loan spell at National League side Braintree Town.
