Adidas is linking with Smiley this month with three product drops — including the Adidas Originals and Smiley Originals collection for adults, and Adidas Originals and SmileyWorld for kids. There’s also an Adidas and SmileyWorld Sportswear collection for kids.
The companies said the partnership is “a celebration of originality and spreading optimism through sport, community and positive self-expression”.
Both collections have just launched and are available on the sport’s giant’s webstore and at selected physical stores.
Both brands are serial collaborators — Adidas has linked up with a series of big designer names while Smiley collabs have run the full gamut from the mass-market to the highest-end.
But this is the first time the two firms have worked with each other (so it’s a big deal), producing what they say is “a fun, bold new chapter in sportswear, presented by two icons of style”.
Each of the main adults’ and kids’ collections “reinvent classic styles with bold creativity,” we’re told. Highlighting the idea that ‘nothing is more original than your smile’, many pieces feature a special Adidas trefoil – reimagined as a Smiley icon.
The pieces blend shades of black and white with Smiley yellow and include a hoodie and coach jacket for kids, and a T-shirt and classic loose trackpant for adults.
Meanwhile, the sportswear collection for kids “aims to motivate the next generation to share the power of a smile whilst being active”.
It combines pastel tones and strong graphics, including an exclusive Smiley logo integrated into classic Adidas branding. Hero pieces include training T-shirts, hoodies, and pants.
Despite this being the first outing for the two companies, Adidas said the collab “feels like a natural partnership, with both brands rooted in the shared values – championing true originality through sport, community and authenticity”.
