The Wild Card Weekend kicks off Saturday with the Texans (10-7) welcoming the Chargers (11-6) to town.
Houston put together a solid 2024 season, though it didn’t quite match the fireworks of their breakout 2023 campaign. With a 10-7 record, the Texans clinched their second consecutive AFC South title, proving they’re no flash in the pan.
Heading into the season, the Texans were touted as serious contenders in the AFC—and for good reason. Last year, they added cornerstone stars in CJ Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., sparking a postseason surge. This spring, Houston doubled down by bolstering their roster with even more firepower, raising expectations sky-high.
On the other side, the Chargers are keeping their playoff dreams alive, punching their ticket to the divisional round. Depending on how the chips fall in other matchups, they could face anyone from AFC powerhouses like the Ravens or Bills to their old nemesis, the Kansas City Chiefs.
