No. 6 Cats upset by the Dawgs in first SEC road test
ATHENS, GA (WYMT) – The Kentucky Wildcats fell in their first Southeastern Conference road game against Georgia on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
The game was tight early on with Lamont Butler scoring nine of the Cats’ first 16 points.
However, the Bulldogs gained their first lead of the game at the 6:48 mark of the first half.
The shots kept falling for UGA and the Dawgs led UK, 47-34, at the half.
In the second half, the Cats were able to come alive again thanks to a scoring burst from Otega Oweh that cut the deficit down to five points.
Foul trouble for Amari Williams and Andrew Carr hurt UK late and Georgia was able to defend its home court with an 82-69 upset win.
UK shot an ice cold 24% from beyond the arc.
Coming up next, UK will travel to Starkville for a Saturday game vs. Mississippi State at 8:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
