Skip Potter, the executive vice president, chief digital information officer at Columbia Sportswear Company, departed the company on January 6, according to documents filed with the SEC.
Potter joined Columbia in 2021.
While Columbia searches for a replacement, Jim Swanson, executive vice president and chief financial officer will oversee the company’s digital technology department.
In his role, Potter was responsible for leading Columbia’s global technology organization, where he will played a pivotal role in evolving the company’s digital footprint and omni-channel and supply chain capabilities across the enterprise.
A tech veteran, Potter joined Columbia after four years as Nike’s chief technology officer, where he led 2,000 digital and e-commerce technology team members. Prior to Nike, he served as managing vice president of engineering and vice president of technology innovation at Capital One, and worked as CIO/CTO for British Telecommunication’s Enterprise Group.
In its most recent trading update, Columbia Sportswear said sales decreased 5 percent to $931.8 million in the third quarter, reflecting lower Fall ’24 wholesale orders, as well as weak consumer demand in the U.S. partially attributable to warm weather and outdoor category headwinds.
