Greggs will open in a unit previously occupied by Pets Corner before the pet store’s relocation in August to a space next to Matalan and Marks and Spencer.
As previously reported, the chain submitted a planning application to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council for the installation of new signage as well as air conditioning condenser units and extract grilles.
However, it was not clear whether Greggs would be closing the branch currently found in the shopping centre next to Sue Ryder charity shop, or if a second location would be opening.

The Gazette can confirm that the existing Greggs will move to the larger unit, which proposes more places to sit, both indoors and outdoors, as well as more space for bakery items and drinks.
In preparation for the opening date ‘this week’, illuminated signs have been installed, as well as transforming screens on the front of the store.
On the side of Unit 12 are two window decals reading ‘Busy day? You’ve earned one’ with a picture of a cup of coffee, and the words ‘Grab a slice’ next to a piece of pizza.
A spokesperson for Greggs said: “Greggs is due to open a new and improved shop in Basingstoke, relocating to a larger unit in Chineham Shopping Centre, within the next week.”
The chain did not provide a specific date, and instead added that it would share ‘further information over the next few days’.
